The objective of this organization shall be to educate the community on the humane treatment of all animals and to foster the availability of quality veterinary services. Molokai has many animals in need; a large stray and feral population and many domestic pets and farm animals. The island's only Vet passed on several years ago and Molokai has been without a full-time resident Vet ever since. We are happy to announce the hiring of our first ever staff veterinarian who will be living on Molokai beginning November 2011. Comprised primarily of volunteers and 5 staff members, the Molokai Humane Society has very limited resources and many challenges facing us. We are excited to have opened our clinic near Ho'olehua 3 years ago which is housed in a converted sea container. We are working to get electricity to the site and run off of solar power and generators in the meanwhile. We hope you will come visit us at our site which is also the location where spay/neuters and Vet appointments are held. |
